Barley carries energy and protein in a dense little kernel. Rolled, it digests fast and clean in ruminants. Show handlers like the condition it puts on without the belly. Dense little kernel. Blend it into the ration gradually. Barley turns rumens loose faster than corn when they're adjusting.
